Born and raised in a suburb of Los Angeles, Dr. Shannon has always loved and cared for animals. After spending her 16th year as an exchange student in Australia, she moved to Virginia where she finished high school while working for a local veterinarian. She then attended Virginia Tech receiving two Bachelor Degrees in Animal Science and Agricultural Economics before starting veterinary school at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.
After graduating from vet school, Dr. Shannon joined a practice in Virginia, then started her own housecall practice. She moved to this area in 1999 when her husband, Jamie, was transferred here. Since then she has worked at a cat only practice, a regular small animal clinic, and at the Humane Society of Berks County while running a housecall only practice.
She is the President of the American Association of Housecall and mobile Veterinarians, member of the Schuylkill Valley Veterinary Medical Association, and Mom to two children — Ellie and Robby, seven cats — Sydney, Mordecai, Spike, and Nicodemus, Onyx, Jack and Lilly, and three horses — Bally, Charley and Angel.
