About Dr. Shannon
Doctor Shannon Stanek
Born and raised in Southern California, Dr. Shannon has always loved and cared for animals. After spending her 16th year as an exchange student in Australia, she moved to Virginia where she finished high school while working for a local veterinarian. She then attended Virginia Tech receiving two Bachelor of Science Degrees in Animal Science and Agricultural Economics before starting veterinary school at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine located on the Virginia Tech Campus.
After graduating from vet school, Dr. Shannon joined a practice in Virginia, and then started her own housecall practice. She moved to this area in 1999 when her husband, Jamie, was transferred here. Since then she has worked at a cat only practice, a regular small animal clinic, and at the Humane Society of Berks County while running a housecall only practice.
She is the Past President of the American Association of Housecall and mobile Veterinarians. She is the Mom to two human children — Ellie and Robby, 10 fur kids — Spike, Jack, Lily and Bertram that stay at her house, Nicodemus, Onyx, Samurai, and Ferdinand that stay at the Clinic, Tunney - who travels with Mom back and forth between clinic and home, and Charley who lives on a farm in Elverson. When not busy with the family and clinic, Dr. Shannon enjoys woodworking, baking, cooking, knitting, sewing, decorating, and sleep!
